March 6, 2017Australian immunological researchers have a strong tradition of being on the cutting edge - 20 years ago, Australian Professor Peter Doherty AC was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovering how T cells, a critical part of the immune system, recognise foreign invaders. These T cells are the assassins of the immune system patrolling our bodies guarding against infection by viruses and bacteria.
